The Invisible War – August 10, 2012

On Friday we hosted a screening of “The Invisible War” – a newly released documentary on military sexual trauma. We partnered with Iraq Veterans Against the War, Families for Peace and North/Northwest Suburban Chapter of the National Organization for Women. Turnout was decent – about 40 people. We also reached out to organizations in the Northwest suburbs that work in the area of sexual assault. Several representatives from Northwest CASA (Coalition Against Sexual Assault) and Children’s Advocacy Center attended. I think the most significant thing to come out of this event was the connection made between mainline groups working on the issue of sexual assault and veterans.

In the picture below Sabrina Waller, veteran and member of Iraq Veterans Against the War, leads the follow-up discussion. Several more pictures are available on our gallery.
